The Alchemy in Shakespeare’s play, The Tempest
October 21 @ 17:00 - 19:00
A talk on Zoom by Julia Cleave about the alchemy in Shakespeare’s play, The Tempest.
During the play we discover that Prospero is a magus who has acquired the wisdom to become a master of nature. The play shows how he demonstrates and develops his mastery by means of acting as a hierophant, teaching, testing and transforming the various characters as a redeemer and saviour of human souls. But the whole play is a mastery in itself, showing that Shakespeare was a supreme magus of alchemy, the universal science or chemistry of all.
This the second of three talks given as part of the Milan & Prospero’s Magic hybrid event.
The talk can be attended by non-participants in the hybrid event, as well as participants.
For those who attend the talk, there will be time for a questions-answers-insights discussion after the talk.
The talk will be recorded and made available to event participants and those who book the talk.
(The discussion session after the talk will not be recorded.)
Cost of individual talk = £25.
